Logo & Branding

I was asked to create a logo and materials for a new retail shop selling 'one of a kind antiques and modern accents for the home'. Tina, the owner, named her shop Antica after her Italian heritage and love of collecting unique one-off pieces. Because the shop was selling new and old items, the client wanted the logo to be modern yet still have classic and elegant qualities that made it special. 

The client has a philosophy that antiques add character and soul to the spaces they inhabit. She likes to mix accents into modern interiors, allowing her pieces to stand out. She believes they are treasures that build a story of the life within a home. 

CONCEPT

The Anitca wordmark represents the antique itself with details that make it classic, elegant, and timeless. The modern crisp graphic elements (box & frame) represent the space within a home that the antique fills. As the antique (logo) fills the space it add it's character and charm to that area. They work together to tell the story of the client's philosophy.

DETAILS:  Our typefaces were selected because of their modern and elegant characteristics. But it’s the additional details found in the type that stood out to me. I felt as through their unique qualities seemed to mirror the ornamentation of the beautiful iron gates outside the shop space. Playing off the concept that antiques are unique treasures for the buyer, I played with further customizing the font to make the A in the logo a special one-off piece to reflect this aspect of the brand.
